Simulate an American Football match against the CPU.

Rules for the board game are here

Begin by flipping a coin. The Visiting Team should call “heads” or “tails” while the coin is in the air. If the visiting team wins the coin toss, the team can choose to kickoff or to receive. The receiving team will begin with the ball on the 20 yard line, but will kickoff to begin the second half.

Rules: The Offensive team has four downs to move the ball 10 yards. If the Offense moves the ball more than 10 yards in four downs, the Offense gets a new set of four downs to move the ball another 10 yards.

If the Offense cannot move the ball 10 yards in four downs, the ball is turned over and the other team becomes the Offensive team. Each quarter is 12 total plays both teams. Play restarts in each half.

Kicking: The Offensive team can elect to punt the ball at any time. The ball is kicked 10 yards times the roll of the die and the other team becomes the Offensive team. The Offensive team can also elect to kick a field goal at any time. The Offense must roll higher than the yard line they are on divided by 10 to be successful (for example, on the 42 yard line, the team must roll higher than 4.2). If the team is not successful, the ball is turned over and the other team becomes the Offensive team.

Play: On each play the Offensive Team selects an Offense card and the Defensive Team selects a Defense card. Once both cards are selected, they are revealed simultaneously and the Offense rolls the die. The result is on the table at the intersection of the play and the defense.

Doubles: If the Offense rolls a six, the die is rolled again. If another six is rolled, this is a Breakout Play.

Double the original yardage and roll again. If another six is rolled, triple the original yardage and roll again. Repeat until a six is not rolled or until a touchdown is scored. If the Offense rolls a one, the die is rolled again. If another one is rolled, the ball is fumbled. Each team rolls the die and the team with the highest number recovers the football. If the Offense recovers, play continues. If the Defense recovers, they become the Offensive team with a first down where the ball was fumbled.

Scoring: If the Offense crosses the goal line, a touchdown is scored, which is worth 7 points. Field goals are worth 3 points.
